Drawing: Portrait of Bill Murray from Life Aquatic
When I heard about Bill, Will You Murray Me?, an art show dedicated to the one and only Bill Murray, I was stoked - not only is the man one of the most likeable actors around, he also stars in one of my favourite films: The LIfe Aquatic. I chose this subtle yet important scene, in which Zissou is sitting on the red carpet, choosing not to view the screening of his newest film. Like most figure drawing, getting hands and feet is tough, and the way Bill is holding his smoke was tricky. I found the sweet spot for his hands, as well as other the defining features, such as his eyes. I'm extremely proud of this drawing and intend for my ongoing portraits to have a similar look.
